LIVEHEALTH TIP OF THE DAY: Don’t Brush Your Teeth Immediately After Vomiting!

Did you know? Brushing your teeth immediately after vomiting can damage your tooth enamel.

Why? Stomach acid temporarily softens the protective outer layer of your teeth. Brushing immediately can wear it away.

What should you do instead?

  1. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
  2. You can rinse with a little baking soda dissolved in water, then spit it out.
  3. Wait about 30–60 minutes before brushing your teeth.
  4. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
